Our Impact

The financial impact that is increasingly arising as a result of receiving medical care away from home is not something many of us would even think to make provisions for, in addition to the emotional impact and stress.

This is one of the many reasons why it is vital to have a facility such as Hearts Together Hospital Hotel, to ensure that families are not faced with additional financial burdens and stress whilst supporting a loved one or receiving medical care.

During 2024 we accommodated 1,022 guests, providing 8,081 nights of accommodation and support. We collectively saved those who stayed with us over £389,180, when compared to staying at other leading budget hotels, in addition to providing over £20,000 in charity subsidies, including 482 fully or partially funded nights for families in financial need.

We provided much needed empathy, compassion and care, with 267 people also benefiting from our counselling and wellbeing support, totalling over 560 hours of formal and informal sessions.

How you can help

As a small, independent charity, we receive no mainstream government or NHS funding and rely heavily on community support and fundraising to continue providing accommodation and essential support to the many families in need.

Will make a difference for someone when they need it most

Will provide two frozen meals for a guest. With many guests coming to us at short notice often without time to prepare for their stay.

Will help to fund the upkeep, maintenance, and charging costs for our shuttle vehicle so that we can continue to transport guests during their stay, saving them stress and money - with taxi costs to the hospital averaging around £5 one way!

Will go towards helping us develop our 'Welcome home packs', this is something we are currently developing. Our aim is to help our guests with the transition when they leave us, with many guests staying at our Hospital Hotel for extended periods of time.

Will provide a contribution towards the on-site and remote counselling support service we offer at our Hospital Hotel for our guests, many of whom are going through some of the most difficult times of their lives.

25 Years of Hearts Together!

We celebrated Hearts Together’s 25th anniversary this month with a party at our Hospital Hotel, highlighted by fundraiser Ricky Callow completing a 37-mile challenge. The day honoured our founder, Monica Pearce, celebrated the support we provide to families facing medical treatment, and marked the launch of our new Sponsor a Counsellor campaign to expand emotional support services for guests.

Our plans to expand

Our big build project sees Hearts Together set to expand from 26 bedrooms to 73 over two build phases, an ambitious but very necessary challenge that we intend to meet head on, as we look to accommodate the ever-growing needs of patients, carers, relatives, our local community, healthcare professionals and trainees.

This service has already shown to be absolutely invaluable, helping to reduce the stress and cost of transport, meaning that our guests can stay focused on supporting their loved ones or getting better themselves.
